Here is a little update on what I have been up to lately! This past summer I had the privilege of taking class in New York City at New York University. I took a class in sculpture. During this class we used clay to create large scale sculptures. This was such a fun process as I had never done anything like it before. What I loved most about the class was the teacher. He never stressed whether our sculptures were "right" or "wrong" he just focused on learning. There were times when I would put a piece in the kiln to be fired and a part of it would chip off or explode. My teacher would tell me to come up with a story about what happened to it when I presented the piece. On one of the pieces I had sculpted a bunny and the ink ran down the eye on accident. I explained to the class that the bunny was just very emotional. :)
This class reminded me that creativity and art do not have to be "perfect" to be exceptional. I left the class learning how to work on a potters wheel and saw some of the most amazing artwork produced by other students. I hope to go back to New York University next year for graduate school.
